Minds Matter.....
In October
2007 Nicholas Blanco suffered an “Anoxic Brain Injury” as a result of an extraordinary home accident which has
left him with multiple and severe disabilities. Nicholas is a 4-years old and the youngest of
4 very active boys, who all live in Ashburn, VA. Since his accident, Nicholas has spent the last 2 1/2 years in
and out of hospitals all over this region. He has received excellent care by all the professionals that have treated him since
his injury.
In honor of Nicholas, The Nicholas Blanco
Foundation has been established to raise awareness and funds for brain injury research. Eventually, the foundation
would like to serve as a resource for brain injury victims, their friends and families.
On April 26,
2010 The Nicholas Blanco Foundation will be hosting the Third Annual Nicholas Blanco Invitational at the prestigious,
private Belmont Country Club. All tournament
participants will experience a fun filled day starting with an early morning putting contest, raffle prizes, a boxed lunch
and more. Following the tournament, there will be an awards banquet and dinner held at the country club. The last two years
have been amazing days and we expect this one to be the best one yet!
Nicholas has spent the most time in inpatient
and rehab at Kennedy Krieger Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. In an effort to give back to the entire team of
medical professionals that manage Nick's vast medical needs, the foundation will be donating all of the proceeds
from this tournament to the Kennedy Krieger Foundation. This hospital and this foundation have helped not only Nicholas, but
so many families whose children have similiar injuries and disabilities.
