Minds Matter.....
In October
2007 Nicholas Blanco suffered an “Anoxic Brain Injury” as a result of an extraordinary home accident which has
left him with multiple and severe disabilities. Nicholas is a 3-year old toddler living in Ashburn
Virginia and is the youngest of 4 healthy boys. Nick, since his accident, has been resident at Loudoun and Fairfax County
Hospitals, Kluge at the University of Virginia and both an and outpatient at the intensive rehabilitation program
at Kennedy Krieger Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland.
In honor of Nicholas, The Nicholas Blanco Foundation has been established in support of fundraising events which will provide
financial resources in support of brain injuries research, cutting edge technology, treatment and will be a resource for brain
injury victims, their friends and families.
On April 27, 2009 The Nicholas Blanco Foundation will be hosting the
Second Annual Nicholas Blanco Invitational to be held at the prestigious Rvier Creek Country Club located in
historic Leesburg, Virginia. All tournament
participants will have the benefit of playing 18 holes on a championship Ault Clarke golf course, followed by an Awards
Reception at the club that will include fun, food, drink, 50/50 Raffle, Silent Auction and multiple prize awards.
This event is designed specifically to provide some financial assistance to the Blanco Family, to promote awareness
of of the devastation that brain injuiries can leave and to make a contribution to KKI for brain injury research.
The Nicholas Blanco Foundation is registered with the Virginia Department of Consumer Affairs, and is a qualified
501(c)(3) charitable organization under the Internal Revenue Service.
There are a variety of ways that
you can show your support, either as a participant, sponsor or as a financial contributor. Sponsorship
opportunities include being the Host (“Tournament”), Gold, Silver, Lunch or Beverage Cart, Hole Competition sponsor
or one of many "Angel" sponsors who donate finances, goods or services to be included in various raffles and silent
auction.
